Overview

Northern France and the Channel Islands provide some of the most interesting and challenging sailing that you will find anywhere. The opportunity to cruise there with your own Skipper/Instructor to guide you, is not to be missed. These adventures are suitable for anyone, whatever your experience. As well as developing your sailing skills, you will visit some great locations and be sure to have a memorable time.

Detailed Itinerary

SAMPLE ITINERARY – 7 day Cross Channel adventure

Friday – 17:00 Meet your skipper onboard at Haslar Marina. After a safety briefing and introduction to the boat, head out and sail down the Solent. Stop on a buoy Yarmouth for the night.

Saturday – Up early and sail down the Needles channel before heading south, making for Cherbourg

Sunday – After breakfasting on fresh croissants, sail down the infamous Alderney races to Guernsey

Monday – Leaving St Peter Port head for St Malo, aiming to arrive in time to explore the walled city

Tuesday – Start heading north, making for Jersey, stopping in the modern port of St Hellier

Wednesday – Sail up the Alderney Races to reach Braye on Alderney for a night at anchor

Thursday – After spending some time exploring the island, depart for a night sail back to Gosport (everyone gets a chance to stand watch for part of the night)

Friday – Arrive at Haslar marina late morning, ready to depart for home around 12:00hrs

MORE INFORMATION

  • We meet onboard the yacht at Haslar Marina in Gosport.
  • Your skipper will be an RYA qualified instructor, who will ensure that the sailing is tailored to the ability and experience of everyone onboard.
  • There will be full safety briefing prior to departure and all safety equipment, including automatic lifejackets, will be provided.
  • Locations visited will vary, depending upon weather, tide and crew capability, experience and preferences. The cross channel cruise typically includes locations such as Cherbourg and St Malo in France and Alderney, Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
  • All food onboard – meals, snacks, hot beverages and soft drinks will be provided.
  • You will need to bring warm clothing (multiple layers and a complete spare change). Good quality waterproof jacket and trousers, hat and gloves, deck shoes (non-marking trainers) and boots are also required. Wet weather gear hire can be arranged if required. You will also need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. And don’t forget your passport!
